eBooks:

In some cases, an eBook may be available for your course. Most eBooks that we provide have a duration of 150 to 180 days and are good for one semester after activation. Some eBooks are for purchase (when rental is not available). eBooks do not come with access to homework websites like Connect, MindTap, Revel, MyMathLab, etc. eBooks simply give you access to view or print pages of the textbook. Before selecting an eBook, please make sure that your professor does not require you to bring the book with you to class. Under limited circumstances an eBook can be refunded: It must be unused and it must be within two weeks of purchase. In order to receive a refund, you will have to visit one of our locations with a copy of the email you received with the redemption code. 

Rentals:

Your textbook options may include rental.  When available, this is your cheapest option – but it only makes sense for those who don’t plan to keep books after the term is over.

To rent a book you must have a credit or debit card in your name with an expiration date no earlier than January, 2021. You will also need to show a driver’s license. You cannot rent on your parent’s credit card unless that parent is present to sign the rental contract in our store at the time of rental. You cannot rent with a gift card.

Rental Returns (end of semester):

Rental books remain property of Booksmart and must be returned by the rental return deadline. Return your rental books in person or ship them back (must be postmarked by the rental return deadline) to the same store where you rented them by December 17, 2020.  After the deadline, late fees or replacement charges will apply. Marking and highlights must be kept to a minimum. If you damage or lose a book while it is in your possession, you will be required to pay the replacement charge.  If a book is not returned by the due date, you must pay the replacement charge or late fees.

 

Returns for Refund (thru drop/add deadline):

We know students make schedule changes and may need to return books they no longer need, and we want to make the return process as quick and easy as possible.  At the same time, because we need to make returned books available to other students immediately, we require that returns must be made to the Booksmart location where they were purchased. Books must be returned in the same condition as they were purchased -- if an item was shrink-wrapped or sealed, it must be returned still sealed.  Original cash register receipt or packing list must be provided for all returns. After the deadline there are no refunds, credits, or exchanges. The deadline to return books purchased for fall classes starting in August at FAU is August 28, 2020 and for fall classes at PBSC the return deadline is September 8, 2020.
